The Blantyre Synod of the Church of Central Africa Presbyterian (CCAP) has elected top synod officials with Rev. Alex Maulana retaining the post of Blantyre Synod General Secretary by 210 votes beating to other contestants and Reverend Rapson Chikwenzule reelected as the Synod Moderator .

They were elected Monday at the controversial CCAP Blantyre Synod's 30th Bi-Ennial Assembly at the Henry Henderson Institute (HHI) Multipurpose Hall in Blantyre.
The conference, which started with a worship and Holy Communion service, is being held under the theme "proclaiming good news of peace through Jesus Christ Lord of all", taken from Acts 10 verse 36.
Maulana got the nod for the second term trouncing his challengers Reverend Lazarus Kadango and Reverend Paul Mawaya.
As the secretary-general, Maulana remains the Chief Executive Officer who run the Synod.
The synod Moderator Rev.Rabson Chimkwezule won with 225 votes against his challangers Reverend Mpate got 83, and Reverend Kutani got 23 votes.
Chikwenzule effectively becomes the new spiritual leader of the Blantyre Synod .
Reverend Edna Navaya was the only candidate who expressed interest for position of Vice Synod Moderator.
However, there was controversy as delegates failed to agree with the voting criteria as only 24 ministers, out of 45, were allowed to vote.
This, according to some delegates and reverends who were sidelined, is not conformity with their Constitution
Reverends Silas Ncozana and Rev Macdonald Kadawati walked out of the meeting, arguing the synod constitution should be revisited.
Another man of God, speaking on condition of anonymity, feared that the new voting process could would damage the Synod further.
"I do think those sidelined will just sit and watch their colleagues cast their votes. Expect some chaos once voting starts in the afternoon," she said.
Speaking earlier, Guest of Honour Reverend Dr. Chatha Msangambe, Moderator of CCAP Nkhoma Synod, urged the delegates to elect people who will not use their powers to undermine others and put the image of the in disrepute.
Msangambe advised all serving and retired men of God not to allow their personal interests to divide the Synod.
"We need leaders who will always proclaim the good news in respect to our to doctrines and scriptures. We need leaders who will always unify the church and remain the light and salt of the world and remain relevant to society.
Notable reverends that graced the conference include the Synod's first Secretary General reverend Misanjo Kansilanga, Very reverend Silas Ncozana, reverend MacDonald Kadawati, reverend Felix Chingota, reverend Daniel Gunya and Saul Chitsulo, among others. –
