The peaceful protestors clad in black attire, organised by the district’s civil society network, blamed government for what they called “death of healthcare system.”
The protesters were also angry at what they say is reckless public spending by government while public hospitals suffer funding.
Civil society network chairperson Eunice Banda said the protestors want President Peter Mutharika to heed the cries of patients dying of hunger and lack of ambulances across the country.
They presented their petition to Francis Puleni, acting director at the district council, who said he will hand over to the President.
